This project takes inspiration from Ebru, the ancient turkish art form of paper marbling by painting on top of water. Traditionally the artform uses earthen dyes and wooden implements to form intricate abstract patterns. Our project uses magnetic ferrofluid as paint and manipulates this with electromagnetic pulses. Changing the rate of these pulses can be produce different effects and is informed by various inputs such as the heartrate of the painter.
