Placebase allows users to record their story using audio, video, or a photo and text. After recording, authors tag their story with certain sensual qualities and record a photo of their visual perspective. The device records their orientation when they save the message.
Users can get an overview of all the stories dropped in any location by tapping map markers. However, the actual message is withheld until users are near the spot and their device is aligned with the author's direction, which the app logged when the message was saved.
Once users retrieve the media, they can use the five buttons corresponding to the five senses to indicate how the experience in place affected their perception. They can also leave written comments on the story. These comments show up in the author's personal collection of stories, but the author must return to the location in order to see what was said.

After recording, users tag their story with sensual qualities and snap a photo of their perspective. The device logs their orientation. After saving the story, the map reloads with a new marker at their current location.
To retrieve a story, users select any marker on the map. They'll get a peak at what there is to see and sense here.
Once they select a story, a panel slides up to display their rotational alignment with the author's perspective, their distance to the location, and panning audio cues signifying their bearing to the target.
The story is available once users are 5 meters away and facing the same direction as the author.
The number of people who have encountered the story in place is displayed, along with the message and five buttons for retrievers to voice their feedback about the felt qualities of their experience.
Retrievers can post a comment on the story. Authors are notified when new activity appears on a story in their personal collection. To see what was said, they must to return to the location and uncover the story.
