About the Development of the VR Application
The AMD VR project has two goals. It centers on the design and implementation of a novel VR-based visualization approach to support patients with moderate to advanced AMD by optimizing the mapping of the visual projection onto the remaining active macular or paramacular area. To achieve this, we prototyped two different applications: one desktop application for the doctor to control the necessary visual adjustments to individual eye conditions, and one VR application for the patient to optimize their field of view. Both are single standing applications that run on consumer level VR devices.
